27/03/2012: In Time [2011]

In Time is the kind of movie that happens when someone thinks up some interesting idea that can't quite stretch into a great movie. Luckily they were able to slap that gimmick into an already tested, and time proven framework, resulting in a not to bad, movie even if there are a few holes.

25/03/2012: Inglourious Basterds [2009]

Inglourious Basterds is my fourth Quentin Tarantino movie in the last two weeks, so clearly I enjoy his movies and he is one of my favourite filmmakers. However, the first time I watched Inglourious Basterds I was not a fan, but after the second time, I would strongly encourage anyone to give it a second try, this is a movie best enjoyed the second time.

23/03/2012: The Sitter [2011]

The Sitter is a refreshingly original comedy about a failed college student who takes a job babysitting the kids next door in order to help his mother out. Starring Jonah Hill, who is quite the rising star as a comedian, The Sitter of course gets up to some shenanigans as he tries to take care of three very interesting children.

24/03/2012: The Hunger Games [2012]

For those of you who have read the books, I'm sure that there was little question as to whether or not you were going to see The Hunger Games in theatre when it opened up. For those like myself, who have not read the book, it was a bit of a question as to whether or not this would be something worth seeing. I can tell you that, it doesn't set the bars any higher, but it is still a great movie and not a waste of a trip to the theatre.

18/03/2012: Pulp Fiction [1994]

The third in my Quentin Tarantino weekend was of course, Pulp Fiction. Ranking at # 4 on IMDB, and at the top of hundreds of other lists as well, Pulp Fiction ranks amongst one of the greatest movies of all time. I wholeheartedly agree, and while not everyone may love it, everyone should see this cinematic milestone.

17/03/2012: True Romance

"People have  asked me: 'So would you ever do a romance movie?' like that's so not what I would do. 'Well, I did a romantic movie, True Romance.' 'No, no, I mean like a real romantic movie'. 'Well that is a real romantic movie.' 'No, like one without violence?' 'Well, there'll be a lot of things in any movie I do that will be contradictory, but anybody's who's a fan of the movie will tell you, the title - True Romance - is not ironic... this is True Romance." - Quentin Tarantino

17/03/2012: Midnight In Paris [2011]

There was a lot of buzz around Midnight In Paris when it came out, but I think it still slipped under most radars. Midnight In Paris is truly a Nostalgic movie, and can only be best appreciated when one had significant knowledge of  1920's art and culture in Paris.

16/03/2012: Reservoir Dogs [1992]

Quentin Tarintino is a name most people will recognize but who's movies not everyone will have watched or liked. Many claiming to love his famous film, Pulp Fiction without ever having seen it. He is undeniably a master filmmaker who has been one of the most influential men in the business since he quit his job at the video store and set out to make Reservoir Dogs.

03/03/2012: Ilsa She Wolf of the SS [1975]

Most people will never venture far off the theater showed, well advertised, blockbuster budget movies that everyone has heard about. Those who search a little may come across many great foreign and indie films. People are always talking about classic movies and how everyone still watches them today. But it is not until someone ventures quite far off of Hollywood boulevard and into the dark woods that they will find the likes of Ilsa: She Wolf of the SS.

11/03/2012: Tower Heist [2011]

There is nothing quite like a good heist movie, but I usually prefer mine to lean a little less towards the comedy side. While the trailers made Tower Heist appear to be a clear cut straight line, it turned out to be full of surprising twists from the get go. While most were predictable, it was good to see that this movie was not just some kinda money grab.

11/03/2012: Young Adult [2011]

There was quite a lot of buzz around this movie, mainly because it was written by Diablo Cody, who it seems is making a name for herself. I was very undecided on what to watch last night, and finally decided to give this a try. I was not disappointed, but I am a little confused as to whether I really liked it, but I'm not sure if I'm supposed to enjoy it.

02/03/2012: Safehouse [2012]

Safe House showed up a couple months ago with an action packed trailer that featured a CIA thriller story in the vein of the Bourne trilogy. After convincing my friends that Act of Valour was a waste of good theater money, we decided to check out Safe House. I will say the big screen does it justice primarily with the surround sound, particularly the gunshots and explosions.

03/03/2012: Trolljegeren (Trollhunter) [2010]

Trollhunter is a Norwegian documentary that was shot by a trio of university students, as they follow a mysterious hunter while doing an investigation into recent bear attacks. They soon discover he is a government paid Troll Hunter, quietly taking care of any trolls that wander out of their territories. The journalists footage was released on the 13th of October in 2008, and has since been investigated. It was determined genuine and Trolljegeren is the footage that has since been released.

03/03/2012: Dead Hooker in a Trunk [2009]

I once read an interview with the Soska sisters which asked why they used a trunk instead of the trunk. Their answer was with a trunk it could be anyone's trunk and not just theirs, it could possibly even be your trunk.

03/03/2012: Beginners [2010]

I think I read the IMDb page on this movie once, added it to my watchlist forgot about it and when I finally got around to watching it, I had no idea what I was getting into. While Beginners is in no means your average romantic comedy, it leans more towards the drama side of things.
