03/02/2012: Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior [1981]

So I wasn’t overjoyed after watching Mad Max, but regardless I was still drawn to watch the sequel. There is something about Mad Max’s cult popularity that lead me to believe that Mad Max must be some hidden cult gem. So, after going almost 6 days without watching a movie, the first one I chose to check out was The Road Warrior.

24/06/2012: Mad Max [1979]

Mad Max: The Road Warrior. The beginning of the rise to fame of Mel Gibson, like many an actor he got his start in a cult classic. However, I'm going to honestly say I just don't "get it." That's not to say I didn't like it per say, but I have a strong feeling it is not Mad Max that everyone is a fan of, but its sequel, The Road Warrior.

10/02/2012: Undead [2003]

Undead had been waiting in my watchlist for a couple months before I finally found a copy and got around to watching it. There was a lot of promise behind the movie, I must say however that it was nothing like I expected nor was this necessarily a bad thing. Undead if you know what it is, will satisfy those who are fans of its genre.

04/01/2012: Van Diemen's Land [2009]

Van Diemen's Land is an independent Australian film which was self-financed. The movie is about Alexander Pearce, Australia's most famous convict, who in the early 1800's was sentenced to the Macquarie Harbour Penal Settlement in Van Diemen's land (Tasmania).

Spoilers
Pearce's fame, and the plot of this movie stems from his escape along with 7 other prisoners, and their trek across the hostile, and endless wilderness that was, and still is Tasmania. The group struggles, and as they become hungrier dark ideas begin, and soon cannibalism begins amongst the group of convicts.

The movie is slow, and doesn't pick up much. It is good if you're interested in the story and want something historical, but if you just want a horror movie with the same idea and inspiration try Dying Breed.
